What is Pilates and what can it do for me?
“Contrology (Pilates) develops the body uniformly, corrects wrong postures, restores physical vitality, invigorates the mind, and elevates the spirit.” - Joseph H. Pilates
Pilates is not just an exercise. When taught correctly and practiced faithfully, the benefits are numerous. Better posture, balance, core strength and energy are the most noticeable results. There is a significant increase in strength and flexibility, particularly of the abdomen and back muscles. Increased lung capacity and circulation through deep, healthy breathing is a key component. Ultimately, an aligned body and mind thinks clearly and moves freely, resisting injury and disease. Pilates is available to every body and is also excellent for physical rehabilitation patients. Pilates is part of a life-long commitment to a healthy lifestyle.
Developed by Joseph H. Pilates beginning in the late 1910’s, his early work was the original set of mat exercises named “Contrology.” Joseph later developed machines to assist and enhance the teaching of his movement concepts. Control is one of the main principles practiced through smooth, mindful movement. Pilates movement principles create a safe environment to reeducate efficient body use, directly increasing functional, available movement as well as giving a full body-mind workout. Thousands of physical therapists, medical doctors, sports and general fitness trainers and many other health practitioners are using Pilates to help people regain strength and function.
Private Pilates Instruction
Pilates was originally conceived as a one-on-one program. Joseph Pilates worked privately with all of his clients and rarely taught Pilates in a class setting. Everyone can benefit from private sessions with our highly qualified staff of trainers. Private Pilates training allows you and your instructor to focus on your areas of greatest need.
Private instruction is conducted on multiple pieces of equipment, including the Reformer, Trapeze Table, Ladder Barrel, Chair, Ped-a-Pul, and Spine Corrector. Private Pilates sessions are 55 minutes in duration and cost $60 - $85 for an individual session and $70 - $90 for a duo (two person) session.
Call (303) 649-2165 for additional information about private sessions, or to schedule your first appointment!
How you can benefit from a private session:
Private sessions are also a great way to structure a specific home exercise program that meets your needs. We will advise you on exercises, props (such as a foam roller or exercise ball) and alignment correction so that you gain the most from your home sessions.
Use a private session to tune-up your form after you've been in classes for a while - make sure you're getting the most out of your classes with a private session which focuses on your own movement patterns. They are a good way to enhance specific sports as well. Want to improve your golf game? Consider a private session.
