One of our fantastic Pilates instructors/Physical Therapists, Carrie Lamb, MSPT, CPP, will be heading to Argentina this November to speak at a Sports Medicine conference about rehabilitation of the shoulder. The conference is a benefit to help raise much needed money for the regional hospital located in the mountain town of Bariloche. It is part of the Aspen-Bariloche Medical Exchange program that "works to improve patient care for the Aspen & Bariloche communities through education, philanthropy & cultural exchanges". In November 12, 2002, Bariloche was named the sister city of Aspen, CO and shortly thereafter, the Aspen-Bariloche Medical Exchange program was started by Dr. Scott Gallagher & Dr. Mark Purnell who visited Bariloche in 2003.
Since the first visit to Bariloche, the Aspen-Bariloche Medical Exchange program has sent several delegations of medical professions from Aspen to Bariloche and from Bariloche to Aspen to educate and improve patient care. They've also been able donate $1,000,000 of hospital supplies and equipment to the Ramon Carillo Hospital in Bariloche.
Carrie became involved with this hospital through the sister cities program and has "stayed involved because it was such a fantastic experience". As she prepares to head back, she is asking friends & family to donate aid to the rehabilitation department at the hospital. The money raised will go towards the purchase of rehabilitation "toys" and continuing education of the therapists.

We will be accepting donations at our front desk throughout the month of October. Please make your check payable to the Aspen Sports Medicine Foundation with "rehabilitation" written in the memo line. If you would like any more detailed information or how to make your contribution tax-deductable please talk to Carrie. Thank you in advance for your support.
